Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and BUI Group Pty Ltd, trading as Mayah. By creating an account or using Mayah, you agree to them.

1. What Mayah is

Mayah is a desktop application for macOS that records your meetings, transcribes them, and surfaces information drawn from sources you connect — such as your code repositories, issue tracker, and documents. It is licensed to you as an individual, for your own professional use.

2. Accounts

You need an account to use Mayah. You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for what happens under your account. One account is for one person; do not share it.

3. Subscriptions and payment

Mayah costs $29 USD per month or $299 USD per year, billed in advance. Those prices are exclusive of tax. If you are in Australia, 10% GST is added on top, so $29 USD per month is charged as $31.90 USD. Customers outside Australia are charged the listed price with nothing added. The total, with any GST itemised, is shown before you confirm payment.

New accounts get a 7-day free trial with no card required. After the trial a subscription is required to capture a meeting or to open your past meetings. Without one you can still sign in and manage your account, but the capture and review screens are closed. Nothing is deleted: the transcripts, cards and notes Mayah has already built stay on your Mac, and subscribing again opens them straight back up.

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancellation and refunds are covered by our Refunds and Cancellation policy, which forms part of these terms.

We may change prices, but not for a period you have already paid for. We will give you at least 30 days notice by email before a change affects your renewal.

4. Bring your own AI key

Mayah’s intelligence runs on an AI provider key that you supply. You are billed by that provider directly for your own usage, separately from your Mayah subscription, and you are subject to their terms. We do not control their pricing, availability, or output.

5. Recording and consent

You are responsible for having the right to record every meeting you record. Recording laws vary by jurisdiction and often require the consent of everyone present. You are also responsible for complying with your employer’s policies. Mayah provides a capability; it does not grant you permission, and we are not liable for your use of it.

Mayah does not announce itself to the other people in your meeting. It captures audio from your own machine, so it does not appear in the attendee list and does not trigger the recording banner that Teams, Zoom, or Google Meet show when their own recording is started. Nobody in the room is notified by Mayah that a capture is running. If the people you are meeting with are to know, you have to tell them.

Separately from whatever the law where you are requires, we recommend that you tell participants when you are capturing a meeting.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Mayah to:

• record people unlawfully or without required consent;
• access systems or data you are not authorised to access through a connected integration;
• break the law, infringe someone’s rights, or harass anyone;
• resell, sublicense, or provide Mayah as a service to others, or attempt to reverse engineer it.

7. Your content

Your meetings, transcripts, and connected data remain yours, and we do not claim ownership of anything you record or produce.

You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, fully paid licence to store, reproduce, modify, adapt and create derivative works from your content, and to display it back to you, in each case only to provide and improve Mayah. We may allow the service providers that host and run Mayah to do those things on our behalf, for that same purpose and no other. That licence is perpetual and irrevocable, except that if you delete your content we will delete our copies within a reasonable time, other than copies kept for backup, archival and legal-compliance purposes.

We exercise that licence to provide and improve Mayah. We collect and analyse information about how the service is used and how it performs, and we may use your content to test, tune, validate and otherwise improve our models, analytics and algorithms. Our Privacy Policy describes what that means in practice, including that someone here may read your transcripts as you wrote or said them, your colleagues’ names included.

To the extent permitted by the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth), you consent to us doing the things set out above without identifying you as the author, and to your content being changed, where that would otherwise infringe your moral rights.

8. Availability

We do not promise uninterrupted service. Mayah depends on your own hardware, your AI provider, and the third-party services you connect, none of which we control. We may change or discontinue features, and will give reasonable notice of material changes where we can.

9. Ending the agreement

You can stop using Mayah at any time. To have your account and everything in it deleted, email hello@mayah.app and we will do it. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, or where required by law. If we terminate your account without cause, we will refund the unused portion of what you have paid.

10. Liability

Mayah produces AI-generated output that can be wrong. Check anything that matters before relying on it in a meeting or a decision. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. Where we are permitted to limit liability for a breach of a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited to resupplying the service or paying the cost of resupply.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material we will email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use Mayah after that means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and the courts of that jurisdiction have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
